The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in 2007 to evolve as a centre of repute in Computer Science and Engineering for producing computing professionals with innovative thinking imbued with ethics to serve the needs of IT and society at large. The department offers both UG and PG programs. The B.Tech program began in 2007 with an intake of 60 students, which was enhanced to 120 in 2009-10, further expanded to 180 in 2013-14, increased to 240 in 2023-24, enhanced to 360 in 2024-25, and currently admits 420 students from the academic year 2025-26. The M.Tech program was introduced in 2011-12 with an intake of 18 students, increased to 36 in 2013-14, and has been optimized back to 18 students from 2023-24 onwards for focused learning.

In line with the commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation, the Department proudly established a Research Center in 2024-25 under JNTUK, Kakinada University, marking a significant milestone in fostering cutting-edge research and providing enhanced opportunities for scholarly pursuits. The Department is supported by highly qualified and experienced faculty members who are actively engaged in research on emerging technologies in Computer Science and Engineering. With nearly two decades of excellence in Computer Science education, the department continues to evolve, ensuring that our graduates are well-equipped to meet the challenges of the digital age while contributing meaningfully to technological advancement and society.

The future scope of Computer Science and Engineering is for achieving excellence in computing disciplines. It is one of the most developing and demanding trades of Engineering. The CSE Department aims to be an important regional resource center for the development of Computing and its applications. The department attracts high quality students from all over Andhra Pradesh and has an impressive placement record. Many of graduates choose to join some of the best institutions of higher learning around the State, whereas some prefer to gain a few years of work experience before deciding their next course of action. Still some others choose to chase their dream taking a path that is less travelled like taking the social welfare route or liberal arts based vocations.
